Technology Coordinators Updates 5-22-2007
PGCEA and the Administration have not been able to reach a mutual understanding relative to the administration’s plan to convert the Technology Coordinator (TC) positions to IT Technicians at this time. The past couple of weeks have been spent exploring options but, unfortunately, the administration is intent on converting the positions to technicians. As a result of information provided to PGCEA from coordinators and the teachers in the field, PGCEA has requested a meeting with the IT Director and the Director who is responsible for the instructional side of this concern to address the district’s plans to cover the responsibilities that the TCs formerly held. While the Association does not have the authority under current law to stop the administration from implementing such a plan, we can and have been working on a methodology for transition. After we are able to establish a meeting which will include a few coordinators and instructors, we plan to issue another statement with additional updates.
