Recently it came to the attention of PGCEA that some Unit members were not receiving the benefit provided for in the negotiated agreement of payment when a Unit member covers another members class or when a teachers class is split up between teachers under certain circumstance. It appears that some administrators assumed that the contract was not being funded and failed to submit the appropriate payment information to the payroll department.
PGCEA met with the school system’s Chief Financial Officer and resolved this matter. As a result a new directive was issued to all timekeepers and principals clarifying the fact that funding has been retained to cover the cost of unit members working in such a capacity. Any hours not previously submitted for coverage by schools, or by teachers who were given incorrect information, will be paid. Unit members should report their time to their timekeepers for back pay.
