Unlock the Wage Freeze

“Unlock the Wage Freeze” Campaign

Prince George’s County educators have not had a pay increase in three years. With increased pension payments, their income has actually gone down. But demands and mandates have steadily increased!

Despite shrinking resources, these educators have managed to increase student performance against seemingly insurmountable obstacles. The combined effect has taken a drastic toll on the school system and on educators and their families.

Over this period, declining enrollment and changed funding formulas have meant fewer dollars for Prince George’s County Public Schools.PGCEA is aggressively asserting that, in spite of the current economic challenges, we must take care of those who take care of our children. Our message is simple: UNLOCK the Wage Freeze

To make changes, educators must influence public discussion and legislative action around the county education budget. Parents, the general public, elected officials, and other interested parties need to know how the declining revenues have affected the school system and the educators who work in it.That isPGCEA’s goal. And we need your help to do it.

The budget cycle is beginning now. Your voice needs to be heard!

PGCEA needs your help get the word out. We need you to speak out in public forums. We need you and your colleagues to take part in activities aimed at bringing more funding to the school system.

The timeline below shows activities you and your colleagues can take part in to help PGCEA make a difference. Work with the colleagues at your school to make sure someone represents you at each event. Organize your colleagues to come out in force to targeted events.

This timeline will be updated frequently. Check back often for announcements and additional activities.
