Education Jobs Bill
Education Jobs Bill
The recently passed Education Jobs Bill will bring about $25 million to PGCPS. PGCEA has been aggressively working to make sure that the money is used in the best possible way in accordance with the law. PGCEA is pushing that the money be used for compensation and benefits with the focus on saving and restoring jobs and wages for our members. One possible use would be to restore the furlough days. PGCEA has been lobbying school board members and the Superintendent to ensure that our members are given a fair share of the expected resources. Members should be aware that PGCEA may be calling on them to participate in some collective actions if the Board is not responsive to PGCEA’s recommendations on the use of the funds. The Board of Education has already begun deliberating on how to use the money and we expect to see their plan in the next few weeks.
