Future Teachers(FTC)
  • Our Mission

  • The mission of PGCEA: Future Teacher Committee is to recruit and serve the National Education Association student members in Prince George’s County. We are committed to establishing a professional relationship with the county’s student members by assisting them with the transition from college to the work force, as well as providing them with a clear understanding of how the teacher’s association and union benefits the public school system.

  • Meetings

  • The committee meets in person every month on the first Monday from 4:30 pm to 6 pm. Our scheduled meeting dates are as follows:

    • November 7, 2011
    • December 5, 2011
    • No face-to-face meeting in January 2012 (On this month we will hold our meeting via telephone conference during arranged evening hours.)
    • February 6, 2012
    • March 5, 2012
    • April 16, 2012 (please note this is the 3rd Monday of the month, due to our spring break we will meet on this day).
    • May 7, 2012

  • Duties and Responsibilities

    1. To recruit and serve the National Education Association student members in Prince George’s County.
    2. Be committed to establishing a professional relationship with the county’s student members.
    3. Assisting student members with the transition from college to the work force.
    4. Provide student members with a clear understanding of how the teacher’s association and national union benefit the public school system.
    5. Provide students with a clear understanding of a Teacher’s job.
    6. Assist student members with their on and off campus activities that promote student leadership and the importance of being an Educator.
  • Activities

    1. Attend local Colleges & Universities Educational Club meetings
    2. Assist members with preparing for the Praxis
    3. Send two students members to represent Prince George’s County and the state of Maryland at the Student National Educational Association (NEA) Conference.
    4. Send Student members to represent PGCEA at the Maryland State Educators Association (MSEA) Conference in the capacity of a student member.
    5. Shadow a Teacher Program
    6. Encourage student members to attend Lobby & Rally’s that PGCEA may be in attendance
    7. Encourage student members to attend at least 2 PGCEA representative council meetings.
  • Volunteers are Needed

FTC is in need of some Teachers who are willing to volunteer sometime to serve as tutors
