Contract Ratified
PGCEA members voted overwhelmingly in support of the new Negotiated Agreement. With nearly four thousand ballots cast, 98% voted in favor of the new two-year agreement.
In a show of good faith, Prince George’s County Public Schools (PGCPS) implemented the negotiated raise of 5% on time or beginning with the first pay periods for employees as we began the new school year. Employee steps or increment movement were also implemented on time, unless an employee had a February anniversary date.
All other terms and conditions can now be executed as a result of the ratification. PGCEA is working with the administration on one of the critical new components, payment for certain coverages. The targeted date for those payments to begin to appear in a payroll is December 14. The administration should begin to collect information soon from staff to reconcile coverages up until December to support any retroactive payments required for coverage.
PGCEA is also in discussion with the administration on a date or pay period to release the separate one (1) percent lump sum payment. Once that schedule has been resolved, PGCEA will release the date.
