Communicating With Your Child Some parents feel that it is bothersome when children ask many questions; but it is through talking about things in which children are interested that they learn. This learning is a storehouse for later school use. Success in learning is related to the use of language at home. Children who can both express themselves well and clarify when they are misunderstood have a distinct advantage in learning to read.

Many things that children learn involve early experiences in sharing ideas about what they do, how they feel and what they think. Children who have had much practice in talking develop in the areas in the following diagram. A Child Will Succeed Talking                Develops
